The Chinese are planning to build an agricultural park in the JAO for $150 million

The Chinese company Shen Hu Niu An, the Main Department of Forest Industry of the Chinese province of Heilongjiang and the Russian Stroyelitcenter LLC plan to build a number of agro-industrial facilities in the Jewish Autonomous Region (JAO), Deputy Chairman of the Regional Government Vladimir Oshchanovsky told Interfax. According to him, the total cost of the project will be about 1 billion yuan ($150 million at the current exchange rate — IF). “The main volume of investments is expected from the Chinese side,” said V. Oshchanovsky.

The press service of the government of the region told Interfax that the project was called Agropark Vesna and would be implemented in several districts at once within 5 years. In particular, it is planned to build a pig farm, factories for the production of flour, mixed fodder, spare parts for agricultural machinery, an agrotechnical center, greenhouses, vegetable stores. V. Oshchanovsky noted that as part of the first stage, a pig farm for 27 thousand heads is being built in the Smidovichi district. This year, it is also planned to purchase equipment for the construction of a feed mill with a capacity of 15,000 tons per year, a vegetable store with a capacity of 20,000 tons, as well as for the first year-round greenhouse with an area of ​​0.2 hectares.

Capex costs for the project for 2016 are planned in the amount of about 1 billion rubles. “So far, the project is at the stage of consideration in the Department of Agriculture of the region. In April, it will be considered by the investment commission under the government of the Jewish Autonomous Region, at the same time a proposal will be made to approve the project as regionally significant for the region,” said V. Oshchanovsky. The government of the autonomous region also intends to provide support in the implementation of the project, provide tax incentives in force in the region, and provide consulting assistance. The Chinese side will send a specialist to the JAO to oversee the implementation of the project on site, he added.
